Why it matters
Anthropic renamed its premium Claude consumer plans on Oct 30 (US time), per @claudeai and the updated pricing page: "Max 5x" becomes Max ($100/month) and "Max 20x" becomes Ultra ($200/month). Ultra removes the rolling 5-hour usage limit for verified accounts; newer accounts keep a temporary 5-hour limit until verified, and weekly limits stay. The pricing page says Max gives 5x Pro usage per 5 hours and per week, while Ultra gives 10x Pro's weekly usage with no 5-hour limit for verified accounts. Both include Fable for up to half of weekly limits and monthly Claude Platform API credits ($100 on Max, $200 on Ultra).
【Our read】
Dropping the short session window on the top tier addresses the most common complaint from heavy Claude Code users and moves Claude toward a weekly-quota model gated by account verification, while bundling API credits ties consumer subscriptions to the developer platform.
