Why it matters

【Key points】

China's market regulator SAMR said on October 15 that the country's first six national standards for humanoid robots have been approved and will take effect on April 1, 2027. The national standards platform lists all six as recommended standards (GB/T), issued on September 28 and handled by the humanoid-robot subcommittee of the national robotics standards committee.

They are Technical requirements for humanoid robots, Parts 1–5 (general, environmental perception, decision-making and planning, motion control, task-oriented manipulation; Part 1 is GB/T 48317.1-2026), plus a technical specification for a humanoid-robot simulation testing platform (GB/T 48316-2026).

According to CCTV, drafters cited targets such as 95%+ instruction accuracy and under one second per single action for decision-making; recovering stability within one second after a rated push; 90%+ success grasping rigid objects, 85%+ for deformable or fragile ones, and force manipulation of 15 kg or more. Part 1 drafters include Pujiang Lab, Robotera, Deep Robotics, Ecovacs and Pudu.

【Our read】

1. It is the first time Chinese national standards define the "intelligence" side of humanoids (perception, decision-making and planning) with measurable targets, not just mechanical safety. Figures like 95% instruction accuracy may become reference points for embodied-AI products and procurement.

2. The standards are recommended, not mandatory, and take effect in about six months; how the targets are measured depends on the full texts and the simulation-platform spec.

3. Announced October 15; we missed it then and are adding it now.
